Monologue 3 Suicide and time of death Death is nothing but natural death for other creatures that know nothing about death. Death is nothing but suicide for human beings that know something about death. Natural death is a kind of suicide. Except for suicide, every death is nothing but murder, which is not what death ought to be intrinsically. We, however, deem that we die from some disease. Death from diseases is murder that is the same as accidental death. There should be a criminal in a case of murder. When it comes to dying in a traffic accident, the criminal is a vehicle. When it comes to dying from a disease, the criminal is the cause of the disease and the accomplice is a doctor. It would be better to say that the doctor is the main offender and the cause of the disease is the accomplice. Accomplices such as germs or microbes are one of creatures which possess the significance of being on the earth under the law of a food chain. It, therefore, is selfish that human beings regard them as harmful enemy and doctors who seduce us to believe so are the main culprit. We regard some creatures as harmful enemies which come down to our society out of a mountain to lay farmland waste or kill human beings; however, they just come for food under the law of a food chain. To kill is nothing but to eat. To kill and to be killed in the world of nature is just to eat and to be eaten. Wild creatures, therefore, only carry out acts to eat and to be eaten, without the concept of death. Death for human beings who have the concept of death is only natural death, namely suicide. Animals that die naturally know their time of death. It is because natural death is nothing but suicide. Animals that die from diseases or in accidents don’t know their time. It is because death from diseases or in accidents is nothing but murder. The difference between suicide and murder is whether they are aware of their time or not. Then how do we know our time? It is said that wild African elephants leave their group when they realize their time, on the other hand Indian elephants serving humans don’t leave their group like African elephants. Why does it happen? To die is to return to mother earth; to leave their group to be alone is preparation for death. Born alone of mother earth, we return (die) alone to the mother earth. The only certain matter (promised affair) in life is that we surely die since we were born. The beginning and the end are certain and the interval between them is uncertain. It is because we are not aware that we are alone. Born alone of mother earth, we live alone on mother earth and return (die) alone to mother earth. An absolute condition that the beginning, the interval and the end of life are all certain is to be aware that we are alone. Birth at the beginning and death at the end are what we experience alone. Every human knows it. Life, the interval, is what we live with others. Since it is the worst delusion in life which leads us to die from diseases or in accidents, which is murder, we can’t tell our time of death. Birth at the beginning and life during the interval and the death at the end are what we experience alone. If we are aware of it, we will be able to understand that the essence of death is suicide which enables us to know our time. Life during the interval is what we live with others. In other words, we live thinking of the past, the present and the future which are all uncertain. Life during the interval is also what we experience alone. In other words, we live at “now & here” which is certain. Natural death is unconscious suicide, the way of dying for those who are unconsciously making circular motion: birth, life and death. It can be said it is the way of dying for those who are living (moving) in total feeling. Conscious suicide, therefore, is the way of dying for those who are consciously making circular motion: birth, life and death. It can be said it is the way of dying for those are living (moving) in partial view. I mentioned in my book “Reality in sleep, dream in reality” that our world (space) is working under “the law of relativity between whole and part”. In plain words, it is the law of “everything is whole and part as well”. For example, “the earth is a part of the sun and the whole of human body as well” and “human body is a part of the earth and the whole of heart as well”. “Everything is whole and part as well”. The reason why heart is working 24 hours a day and 365 days a year without any rest is that it is the heart as total feeling. It is the same mechanism as the earth moves 24 hours a day and 365 days a year without any rest. Things which are working 24 hours a day and 365 days a year without any rest are unconsciousness, total feeling. Things which are not working 24 hours a day and 365 days a year without any rest are consciousness, partial view. Taking our way of living into consideration, some are working 24 hours a day and 365 days a year without any rest such as heart and other internal organs and some are not working 24 hours a day and 365 days a year without any rest such as five senses through eyes, ears, nose, mouth (tongue) and skin. Five senses are working only when they are awake but not working when they are asleep. Things without any rest for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year are working with unconsciousness, the total feeling. Things with some rest for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year are working with consciousness, the partial view. Those who live unconsciously in total feeling die unconsciously: natural death. Those who live consciously in partial view, therefore, ought to die consciously: suicide. We human beings, however, live consciously in partial view and die unconsciously from diseases or in accidents: unconscious murder. It is an unreasonable way of death. We are born alone, live alone and, finally, die alone. Death, therefore, is nothing but suicide which means dying of our own will. Unconscious suicide is natural death; conscious suicide is to commit suicide. To live unconsciously is to live in total feeling; to live consciously is to live in partial view. Ego is partial view which is islands and continents appearing on the sea; to feel the earth itself that connects the islands and continents under the sea is nothing but total feeling. Islands and continents have ups and downs, that is to say circular motion of birth, life and death. The earth under the sea, however, never changes. Transforming from steam gas to liquid water at 100 degrees Celsius is birth, maintaining the state of liquid water from 100 degrees to 0 degree Celsius is life and transforming from liquid water to solid ice at less 0 degree Celsius is death. It is just a molecular compound H2O (water) whether steam gas, liquid water or solid ice. In other words, the phenomena of birth, life and death are the matter of partial view which is nothing to do with total feeling. We are born alone, live alone and, finally, die alone. Death, therefore, is nothing but suicide which means dying of our own will. Natural death is also a kind of suicide and anything born shall die. We take the word of suicide negative. There are two types of suicide: unconscious death and conscious death. It may be better to say that natural death is unconscious death and committing suicide is conscious death. Therefore, it is better to say that living in total feeling is unconscious life and living in partial view is conscious life. Unconscious birth, life and death. Conscious birth, life and death. Human beings that have the concept of death send conscious birth, life and death. The other creatures that don’t have the concept of death send unconscious birth, life and death. All human beings believe ourselves to be better than others. That is why we can live without committing suicide. Human beings that have the concept of death live against suicide because we believe ourselves better than others. It is natural that we fear to die when we negate suicide. We would not fear to die if we accept suicide. In order to accept suicide we should be so modest that we don’t think ourselves to be better than others; it is an arrogant attitude toward the earth to believe ourselves better than others. Among human beings living consciously, only those who have found suicide to be the one mode of death live with modesty. The attitude toward death is nothing but to commit suicide. Time of death is just a prize for the attitude of death after all. To know the time of death is the best news to live along if we can realize that the anxiety for living is unable to know the time of death. Suicide and time of death are prizes for effort after all. |
