Monologue 5 To realize a value of death

Your life will be in vain unless you solve the last matter of death by yourself even if you are leading a satisfactory and pleasant life.
“I will die!” is the words when people are suffering a hard time.
Anyone who knows the concept of death - “everyone will surely die someday” - is going to think about dying when he gets a hard time like a baby sucks his mother’s nipples although nobody has taught him how to do.
It is surely an instinctive matter.
Man tends to think of dying when a pain to live reaches its peak.
It is because death is the last trump card (the ace of spades).
Who has the ace then?
Who has the ace is nothing but yourself; however, you are not allowed to have it in this human society.
It is the society of human beings, who have realized the concept of death, that the right to kill yourself is denied.
To talk about death is taboo.
To die is fearful.
Those who commit suicide go to hell.
Who on earth implanted such made-up stories in human society?
It is not a game anymore when players in the game called life are not allowed to have the ace.
The one who can play his last card, the ace of spades, is the player in a life game.
To talk about death is taboo.
To die is fearful.
Those who commit suicide go to hell.
We cannot play our trump at the end of our own life game because we believe in such stories.
That is why we live with anxiety, agony and, finally, the fear of death.
We must take back the right to kill ourselves.
Why do we think of death as a taboo?
Why do we think of suicide as a sin?
We human beings seem to have a wrong feeling of death.
We have a wrong feeling, “we will surely die someday.”
This is the identity of the concept of death.
The concept is nothing but the wrong feeling.
A way of thinking is nothing but a wrong way of being.
Knowledge is nothing but wrong wisdom.
To put it another way, knowledge is
The way of thinking that is “alive is good and dead is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “male is good and female is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “right is good and wrong is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “strong is good and weak is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “wise is good and fool is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “rich is good and poor is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “happy is good and unhappy is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “heaven is good and hell is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “healthy is good and ill is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “god is good and devil is bad.”
The way of thinking that is “ruler is good and ruled is bad.”
To put it another way, wisdom is
The way of being that is “alive and dead are two sides of the same coin; dead is essence and alive is just absence of death”
The way of being that is “male and female are two sides of the same coin; female is essence and male is just absence of female”
The way of being that is “right and wrong are two sides of the same coin; wrong is essence and right is just absence of wrong”
The way of being that is “strong and weak are two sides of the same coin; weak is essence and strong is just absence of weak”
The way of being that is “wise and fool are two sides of the same coin; fool is essence and wise is just absence of fool”
The way of being that is “rich and poor are two sides of the same coin; poor is essence and rich is just absence of poor”
The way of being that is “happy and unhappy are two sides of the same coin; unhappy is essence and happy is just absence of unhappy”
The way of being that is “heaven and hell are two sides of the same coin; hell is essence and heaven is just absence of hell”
The way of being that is “healthy and ill are two sides of the same coin; ill is essence and healthy is just absence of ill”
The way of being that is “god and devil are two sides of the same coin; devil is essence and god is just absence of devil”
This is the way of being that “ruler and ruled are two sides of the same coin; ruled is essence and ruler is just absence of ruled”
All of our ways of thinking are just the wrong feelings.
We human beings are all wrong being.
That is why we think of death as a taboo.
That is why we think of suicide as a sin.
Everyday you are suffering from illness.
Everyday you are struggling with poverty.
Everyday you are struggling with discord with others.
Everyday you can’t have your own way.
Physical and mental pains and difficulties as the Buddhism taught.
Suffering to live, suffering to get old, suffering to get sick, suffering to die and furthermore suffering to have to part from beloved, suffering to see someone you hate, suffering not to get anything you want and suffering to struggle with desire your body wants, which occur to all human beings everyday, even to a person whose life is going well.
It is destiny of human beings who have attained the ability to think.
Someone who may argue, “No, I have not had any hard time in my entire life!” should regret his dull sensibility.
It is a matter of five senses that you feel sufferings, which is similar to pain or pleasure.
You can’t feel pain, let alone pleasure when you don’t feel any sufferings.
If you have the ability to feel pleasure, you also have the ability to feel pain and suffering.
A lack of five senses’ ability mostly causes human beings, especially modern people, to let their consciousness asleep.
Modern society filled with a good deal of information is flooded with the cause of anxiety and agony, where we have to be dull - sleeping consciousness - to protect ourselves from such a lot of information.
Then you must not long for happiness.
Because you hate unhappiness.
However, even those who argue, “No, I have not had any hard time in my entire life!” long for happy.
This is nothing but utilitarianism that “happy is good and unhappy is bad” which is absolutely impossible.
“Happy and unhappy is two sides of the same coin, and unhappy is essence and happy is just absence of unhappy,” which is the practical way of being.
As a result,
The matter of alive and dead is lying at the bottom of it.
Will you insensitively live in the way of thinking - “alive is good and dead is bad” - with your consciousness asleep?
Then you cannot escape from a life with anxiety, agony and, finally, the fear of death.
Will you sensitively live in the way being - “happy and unhappy is two sides of the same coin, and unhappy is essence and happy is just absence of unhappy” - with your consciousness awaken
Then you can lead a life without anxiety, agony and, finally, the fear of death.
Your life should be decided by yourself.
It is getting more uneasy for us to live in modern society.
Increasing uncertain factors cause it.
An information-oriented society, which provides us useless information, is aggravating our schizophrenia.
Human beings who have gained intellect will surely be schizophrenic.
“A life doesn’t move as we wanted” because there is a gap between the way of thinking and the way of being.
The way of thinking is different from the way of being.
The way of thinking is just selfish wishful thinking.
In other words, it is bound by time: past, present and future.
This is real time, which we assume to be “time” called the time in the horizontal world and the quantitative world.
The way of being is the state of no mind (ego), which follows the law of the whole universe.
In brief, it exists at “now & here”.
“Now” out of “now & here” is called the time in the vertical world and the qualitative world, which is imaginary time for the way of being while it is real time for the way of thinking.
Only we human beings are living with a dualistic world view: the way of thinking and the way of being.
In other words, we are in two kinds of world: real time and imaginary time.
Other creatures are living with a monistic world feeling that is only the way of being.
In brief, they are in the world of imaginary time.
We imagine that “we will surely die someday”, which is nothing but the concept of death.
“Someday” is a matter of future.
It means real time.
“Surely die” is a matter of “now”.
It means imaginary time.
The world view, in which real time and imaginary time are intermingled, is nothing but the dualistic world view.
In addition, we only look at real time although “now” of imaginary time is substantial and “future” of real time is not substantial yet.
It proves that we live with a world view of relative monism of utilitarianism.
That is why only we human beings are schizophrenic.
The more uncertain factors increase, the more serious schizophrenic we become.
And, the mechanism of the fear of death - “we will surely die someday” - will work harder.
Other creatures, which are living with the monistic world feeling that is only the way of being without ego, just die.
We human beings, who are living with the dualistic world view that is the way of thinking and the way of being with ego, are always thinking that “we will surely die someday”.
If we live with a trinitarian world view beyond the dualistic one, an uncertain factor, “someday”, will go out and “I will die” will remain.
What it all comes down to is that the fear of death will vanish when we determine to end our life by ourselves.
Uncertain factors in life change into certain ones when you determine to end your own life by yourself.
To live is to flow in the uncertain factors.
In short, it is nothing but relatively repeating action of still and motion.
To die is to change from the uncertain factors into the certain ones.
In brief, it is nothing but absolute stillness.
Life is not absolute life but relative one which is death and life like motion is not absolute motion but relative one which is still and motion.
Death is only absolute death like stillness is only absolute stillness.
This is the reason why death is everywhere.
Uncertain factors are in relative motion and in relative life.
Certain factors are only in absolute stillness and absolute death.
We human beings, however, who have found the concept of death, “we will surely die someday”, confine death in the uncertain factors.
We try to confine death in the uncertain factors and life in the certain ones.
It is completely impossible.
To live is nothing but a dangerous situation flowing in the uncertain factors.
To be dead is nothing but a state of perfect ease resting in the certain factors.
As one of creatures, we human beings know it instinctively.
We, therefore, know in our subconscious that it is alright just to die at the last moment.
We human beings, who know the concept of death, have no choice but to end our own life on our own.
It is indeed to realize a value of death.
