Chapter 11 Certainty 0 % - beginning - is 100 % unknown world. 100 % - ending - is 100 % known world. On the other hand, The world we live in is the "interval" world between 0 % and 100 %. The "interval" world consists of 33.333・・・% known and 66.666・・・% unknown. There is no certainty at all in the "interval" world. Spiritual enlightenment every religion asserts is nothing but the pursuit of certainty. Every religion pursuing spiritual enlightenment is a sham, image, since only "birth" and "death" are certain and "life" is uncertain itself. The spirit of "middle way" that Buddhism teaches is impractical in the uncertain world of "life". The secrets of tightrope walking are a sense of balance, keeping your balance to the left when lurching to the right or keeping it to the right when lurching to the left; you’ll slip to fall down if you stick to staying in the middle. "The middle way" is impractical in "life", the "interval" world, between 0 % and 100 %. Only 0 % and 100 % are "the middle way". "The middle way" is impossible once you begin to move. Therefore, The certainty -"spiritual enlightenment", "awakening" and "the middle way" in metaphysics, is possible for anyone in "birth" and "death". The certainty -"spiritual enlightenment", "awakening" and "the middle way" in metaphysics, is impossible for anyone in "life". |
